SAS Custom Font – Anova and Anova UI
SAS commissioned a custom SAS font, Anova, which was released in 2023 that is used exclusively for SAS. The Anova font is currently used in content, promotional assets, websites and in our SAS software. There are two Anova families:
- Anova: our primary typeface used for most use cases such as marketing assets, web, documents and for large font size use cases such as on larger screens on stage at events or booths.
- Anova UI family: created to be optimized for smaller font sizes, specifically for SAS visualizations in-product when micro-sized font is required.
Anova supports over 200 languages covering North and South America, Europe and Africa. Anova fonts also include Greek and Cyrillic scripts, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Greek, Macedonian, Russian, Serbian and Ukrainian.
Request Process
Agencies
Approved agencies can use Anova if they have been contracted to do business with SAS and have a current license agreement.
- SAS employees fill out the ServiceNow form on behalf of the agency, SAS Font (named Anova) Request Form for Qualified Agencies.
Legal reviews the request to confirm a current agreement is on file. The font files are sent to the SAS employee who submitted the request form. The SAS employee should share the files with the agency.

Anova Font FAQ
1. Where can I find more information about Anova and Anova UI and how to access the font files for employee use?
Visit the SAS Brand Assets for Employee Use page for more information and to access and download the Anova files.
Visit the SAS Font (named Anova) Request Form for Qualified Agencies to request it on their behalf.
2. Can I use Anova for my Microsoft Windows applications, such as Word, Outlook, Excel or PowerPoint?
Currently, Anova is only used in our corporate PowerPoint templates, where it is embedded. This makes it possible for presentations, created with the template, to surface Anova when shared with external parties.
Anova should not be used for any other Microsoft applications, such as Word, Outlook or Excel. Why? When shared with parties, especially externally, the default Microsoft font will surface instead of Anova, which will likely cause formatting issues.
3. Which font should I use for my Windows applications?
The preferred typeface for Windows is Arial. Do not use Anova as the font for Microsoft Word, Outlook, or Excel. See #2 for details.
4. Can I share Anova with external parties?
Approved agencies can use Anova if they have been contracted to do business with SAS and have a current license agreement. Employees, please fill out the ServiceNow form, SAS Font (named Anova) Request Form for Qualified Agencies.
Anova should be used for SAS or our subsidiaries only. Please do not distribute the Anova font or use Anova for non-SAS purposes.
5. When did we stop using Avenir Next (the marketing-licensed font)? Can I still use Avenir Next?
The Marketing division stopped using Avenir Next (File name: Monotype Avenir Next W1G) in December 2023 when our Monotype marketing license expired. All marketing assets transitioned to the Anova font effective January 2024. Avenir Next font files should be removed from your devices.

6. Which languages are supported with Anova?

7. Is Anova used in SAS products?
Yes, Anova was released in SAS products in 2025. Refer to R&D’s Filament design system for additional typography information.
8. Will the Anova fonts be installed on our PCs automatically?
No, we currently do not have plans to automatically download Anova to all computers. However, employees can download the files on the SAS Brand Assets for Employee Use page.
